Ultra-, ultra-rare and absolutely authentic blue ink signature given as an endorsement on the verso of a personal check issued to him by a Claremont, New Hampshire woodcutter who logged his property to acquire lumber in 1974. In fine condition, with various bank cancellation stamps and light show-through of the autograph to the front of the check and the words "For Deposit Only," penned in the author's hand, browned in a couple of spots where the pen broke through the paper. The signature itself is totally unaffected. Authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with an accompanying certificate. Vehemently reclusive author Jerome David Salinger, who wrote the classic coming-of-age novel The Catcher in the Rye, abhorred fandom and giving autographs in any format.
