Before his tragic suicide at the age of 55, character actor Everett Sloane was memorable as Mr. Bernstein in Citizen Kane (1941), Kopeikin in Journey Into Fear (1943), Arthur Bannister in The Lady from Shanghai (1947), Irving Cohen in Somebody Up There Likes Me (1953), Dr. Cachet in Lust for Life (1953), and frenzied gambler Franklin Gibbs in the classic "Twilight Zone" episode entitled "The Fever" (1959).
