Scarce and excellent vintage 7.6 x 9.5-inch sepia-tone portrait, looking very British with a pipe to his lips, boldly signed in black fountain pen in the 1930s. In good condition for its age, with one minor surface scuff. Veteran character actor C. Aubrey Smith, who was uniformly cast as well-bred Englishmen with stiff upper-lips, had starring or supporting roles in a number of horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and mystery films, including The Face at the Window (1920), The Monkey's Paw (1933), TransatlanticTunnel (1935), Beyond Christmas (1940), Rebecca (1940), Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1941), Flesh and Fantasy (1943), and And Then There Were None (1945).
