Scarce 3.5 x 5.5-inch sepia-tone postcard portrait, dating to the late 1910s, boldly signed in fountain pen. In fine condition for its age, with gentle surface scuffs and dings; some edge wear; and a light, diagonal crack to the lower left-hand corner, well away from the writing itself. Silent movie leading man Forrest Stanley is remembered for his starring role as the villain, Charlie Wilder, in Paul Leni's thriller The Cat and the Canary (1927). He made several other contributions to the horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and mystery genres, including roles in The Young Diana (1922), The Drake Case (1929) and Curse of the Undead (1959).
