Extremely rare vintage 11x14-inch sepia-tone potrait, boldly signed and inscribed to Bernice, wife or daughter of silent actor Gino Corrado, sometime between 1919 and 1925. In very good condition. Friendly-faced character actor Arthur Stone was active in Hal Roach comedy features and shorts during the late silent era, costarring Olive Borden, James Finlayson, Louise Fazenda, Ford Sterling, and Marjorie Beebe. These are now mostly lost, save for Just a Good Guy (1924), Sherlock Sleuth (1925) and a handful of others, but the glimpses we have of his work suggest that he was really something! With the advent of sound, Stone played nervous fathers, farmers, wardens, military men, shopkeepers, professors, and newspaper men in classic films like The Secret Menace (1931), Million Dollar Baby (1934), Charlie Chan in Egypt (1935), and Fury (1936).
