Exceedingly rare vintage 8x10-inch black and white portrait as Doc Adams, his most beloved role, boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, adding his character name, in the 1950s. Even out of character autographed portraits of the star are virtually impossible to find. In fine condition, priced to reflect some minor water damage to the surface, an ink stain to the upper right-hand corner tip and some minor creasing. Best known for his longtime portrayal of Doc Adams on T.V.'s "Gunsmoke" (1955-1975), character actor Milburn Stone made a number of key contributions to the horror, sci-fi and fantasy genres, with roles in Captive Wild Woman (1943), The Mad Ghoul (1943), Weird Woman (1944), Jungle Woman (1944), Enemy Bacteria (1945), The Frozen Ghost (1945), Strange Confession (1945), The Spider Woman Strikes Back (1946), and Invaders from Mars (1953). He was also memorable in the Basil Rathbone gem Sherlock Holmes Faces Death (1943).
