Ultra-rare vintage 7.75 x 9.75-inch black and white portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in black ink in-person for unstoppable autograph hound John Virzi in the early 1960s. In good condition, with the borders trimmed away from what was originally an 8x10-inch photograph. Friendly-faced English character actor Henry Travers is best remembered for his portrayal of bumbling angel Clarence Odbody in the holiday classic It's a Wonderful Life (1946), filmed about half a decade before this photo was autographed. He was elsewhere memorable as Dr. Cranley in the horror classic The Invisible Man (1933), Baron Cesarea in Death Takes a Holiday (1934), Dr. Parsons in Dark Victory (1939), Reverand Smiley in The Rains Came (1939), Dr. Evans in On Borrowed Time (1939), Pa in High Sierra (1941), Mr. Ballard in Mrs. Miniver (1942), Dr. Sims in Random Harvest (1942), Joseph Newton in Shadow of a Doubt (1942), and Horace P. Bogardus in The Bells of St. Mary's (1945).
