Cat. #00525234: RUDOLPH VALENTINO

EXTREMELY rare vintage black fountain pen signature adding a sentiment in Spanish on a tan album page leaf, acquired in-person in the 1920s, irregularly trimmed into an oval shape, measuring about 3x4 inches, and matted and framed up with an 8x10-inch portrait of the star, with a silver-colored nameplate. The autograph itself, which appears to be affixed to the matte, is in good condition for its age, but has never been examined outside of the frame. The frame shows significant scuffing with deteriorated backing, such that we recommend replacing it entirely or having the signature removed and shipped alone. Previously offered by a noted autograph dealer, whose name we can provide if one so wishes. Dashing Rudolph Valentino died of a ruptured gastric ulcer and general peritonitis at age 31, and authentic examples of his autograph are virtually impossible to find in any format.
