Highly rare vintage fountain pen signature on a 3.25 x 6-inch album page, acquired in-person in the 1950s. In good condition, overall, with some light crinkles to the left edge and a stain to the upper right-hand corner, none of which affects the writing itself. Marshall Thompson signs on the verso. Note that the image of the star shown alongside the scan of the autograph here is not actually included with the item. Respected veteran stage actress Evelyn Varden, remembered for more than 20 memorable Broadway roles, made her film debut in 1949, playing gabby, absent-minded matronly types in films like Pinky (1949), Cheaper by the Dozen (1950), Phone Call from a Stranger (1952) and The Night of the Hunter (1955). Horror buffs will remember her as the Penmarks' insufferable next-door neighbor Monica Breedlove in the camp classic The Bad Seed (1956).
