Scarce, uncommonly early and especially beautiful 8x10-inch sepia-tone portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen from around age 20, when Warner Brothers first changed her name from Martha MacVicar to Martha Vickers. In good condition, with gentle edge wear. Beautiful Martha Vickers abandoned a modeling career at the age of 18, lured to Hollywood to play Margareta, Vazec's daughter, in the horror classic Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943). She was thereafter a B-movie scream queen and bad girl, memorable as Dorothy Colman in Captive Wild Woman (1943), Miss McLean in The Mummy's Hand (1944) and the thumb-sucking nymphet Carmen Sternwood in The Big Sleep (1946). The sultry, auburn-haired beauty died of cancer of the esophagus at age 46, and her autograph is highly uncommon in any format.
