Scarce and fantastic original 8x10-inch black and white cowgirl portrait by Bert Six for the western flick San Antonio (1945), with the studio snipe still affixed to the verso, boldly signed in blue ballpoint pen in the 1950s. Some minor edge wear and surface crinkles, but, overall, in good condition and superb for display. Fetching Martha Vickers abandoned a modeling career at the age of 18, lured to Hollywood to play Margareta, Vazec's daughter, in the horror classic Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943). She was thereafter a B-movie scream queen and bad girl, memorable as Dorothy Colman in Captive Wild Woman (1943), Miss McLean in The Mummy's Hand (1944) and the thumb-sucking nymphet Carmen Sternwood in The Big Sleep (1946). The sultry, auburn-haired beauty died of cancer of the esophagus at age 46, and her autograph is highly uncommon in any format.
