Cat. #00564211: BOOKER T. WASHINGTON

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Rare, bold signature, given in black fountain pen in Tuskegee, Alabama in November of 1907 on a 2 x 3.25-inch tan card. In fine condition, with slight soiling along the top edge, away from the writing, which could easily be trimmed away or matted out, and mounting remnants on the verso. Great African American educator and orator Booker T. Washington, a leading voice for slaves free under Lincoln and their descendants, was based at the Tuskegee Institute, a college historically associated with Black students.
