Cat. #00575312: ORSON WELLES

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Scarce and excellent mattable blue fountain pen signature on a 3" x 4.5-inch yellow autograph album page, acquired in-person in the late 1940s. Actor John Ireland signs and inscribes in blue fountain pen on the verso. In good condition, with a small piece of tape to the Ireland side. Brilliant Orson Welles was Oscar nominated for directing and starring in Citizen Kane (1941), and shared a trophy with Herman J. Mankiewicz for the screenplay. Other highlights of his extraordinary career include The Magnificent Ambersons (1942); Journey Into Fear (1943); The Stranger (1946); Lady of Shanghai (1947); Confidential Report (1955); and Touch of Evil (1958). He is also remembered for his infamous "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast of 1938, which scared the bejesus out of those who tuned in too late to know it wasn't a news announcement.
