Cat. #00575313: ORSON WELLES

Scarce and terrific vintage 8x10-inch black and white publicity portrait as Louis XVIII in Waterloo (1970), signed and inscribed in black fountain pen in the period of the film. The writing shows signs of some momentary pen difficulty and the edges are slightly worn; otherwise, in fine condition for its age and accompanied by a letter from the third-party authenticator P.S.A./D.N.A. Brilliant Orson Welles was Oscar nominated for directing and starring in Citizen Kane (1941), and shared a trophy with Herman J. Mankiewicz for the screenplay. Other highlights of his extraordinary career include The Magnificent Ambersons (1942); Journey Into Fear (1943); The Stranger (1946); Lady of Shanghai (1947); Confidential Report (1955); and Touch of Evil (1958). He is also remembered for his infamous "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast of 1938, which scared the bejesus out of those who tuned in too late to know it wasn't a news announcement.
