Scarce vintage blue fountain pen signature on a 3x5-inch white card, acquired in-person in November of 1968, the year he starred in the magnificent The Shoes of the Fisherman. In good condition, with a stray ink mark to the left of the signature. Aloof, morose-looking Austrian stage and film actor Oskar Werner was electrifying in Eroica (1949); The Angel with the Trumpet (1950); Decision Before Dawn (1951); The Last Ten Days (1955); Spionage (1955); The Life and Loves of Mozart (1955); Lola Montes (1955); Francois Truffaut’s Jules and Jim (1962) and Fahrenheit 451 (1966); Ship of Fools (1965), for which he earned an Oscar nod; The Spy Who Came in from the Cold (1965); Interlude (1968); The Shoes of the Fisherman (1968); and Voyage of the Damned (1976). He died of a heart attack at the age of 61 and his autograph is rather elusive in any format.
