Uncommonly early 7.75 x 10-inch black and white portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in green fountain pen in 1963, the year his classic film Irma La Douce was released. In good condition, with very slight trimming to the left and right edges. Beloved director and screenwriter Billy Wilder won six Oscars for a marvelous body of work which included Double Indemnity (1944), The Lost Weekend (1945), Sunset Blvd. (1950), Ace in the Hole (1951), Stalag 17 (1953), Sabrina (1954), The Seven Year Itch (1955), Witness for the Prosecution (1957), Some Like It Hot (1959), The Apartment (1960), Irma La Douce (1963), and The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (1970).
