Rather uncommon vintage 8x10-inch black and white publicity portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in black ink, probably in the 1960s. In very fine condition. Lovely silent movie queen-turned-early talkie supporting actress Claire Windsor was peripherally involved in the infamous William Desmond Taylor murder case of 1922. She and the victim had a dinner date the night before his body was discovered. Although the case has never been officially solved, one theory is that Desmond was killed by a jealous lover who saw Claire at his home that night and, when she left, broke into the house and shot him to death. She was heavily questioned by the police and ultimately cleared of any involvement.
